Subject: On the subject of legality
Nonprofit Libraries, which is what archive.org is, have certain exceptions to the rules of copyright. Whether or not this specific case counts as infringement I can't say for sure, as I haven't studied the law (yet) but I believe there's at least some chance it is. There is actually an ongoing suit by a number of copyright holders against archive.org so I guess we'll see how that goes.
Reviewer: JTMurphy - favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite - June 9, 2024In my layman brain, I would assume this is not a breach of copyright as it's not being printed, not being sold, no profit is being made, and it's in a very artistic black and white which *clearly* adds transformative value.
Ultimately, there will always be piracy. If it soothes your conscience, know that there are people who own several copies, who pay monthly to use a digital version with zero extra value. Think of this as a friendly dnd pal sharing their book with you. the mere act of playing this game makes them money by growing their customer base.
